How to say you are sad about something that happened (or didn't happen).

Regretting a past action. Formula: Past Perfect.

  • "I wish I had studied harder." (But I didn't).
  • "If only I hadn't bought that car." (But I did).
  • "I regret not studying." (Regret + Verb-ing).

🎁 Present Regret

Regretting a current situation. Formula: Past Simple.

  • "I wish I were rich." (But I am not).
  • "If only I knew the answer." (But I don't).

3. Grammar: Relative Clauses

Clauses starting with Who, Which, Whose, Where, When to describe a noun.

🔒 Restrictive (Defining)

Essential info. No commas.

"The student who studies hard succeeds."

If we remove it ("The student succeeds"), we don't know WHICH student.

🔓 Non-Restrictive (Non-Defining)

Extra info. Uses commas.

"My father, who is a doctor, lives here."

If we remove it, we still know who "My father" is.

Never use 'That' in Non-Restrictive clauses!
